January 17, 2012 — With weather systems approaching, Kimberleigh just HAD to get back up to Yosemite before the Tioga road closed. This time she and her Dad made the trip - an extension to an existing visit to Taft where her dad lived for a year in his childhood. Little did they know that the Tioga road would close the SAME DAY. This time the weather was colder and windier, but the sun was bright and only a handful of people on the lake. Kimberleigh's Dad, Kendall, took several videos and Kimberleigh took the camera out into the lake to show a different perspective.

January 10, 2012 — Kimberleigh, Paul and Claude the Vizsla took a one-day trip up to experience Yosemite's high country during this rare winter where lack of snow has allowed the Tioga Road (Highway 120) to be open the latest on record. Kimberleigh wanted to skate on Tenaya Lake for a once-in-a-lifetime thrill. It truly was a highlight of her life to step out onto a frozen Tenaya Lake with no snow barriers and skate on what looked like the largest ice rink in the world. It was a Tuesday and there were only a handful of people out for the same experience. Some walked, some skated and some watched from the shoreline. Passing cars slowed down in disbelief to see skaters on the lake. Paul took photos and videos from the sandy bank and Kimberleigh took some photos from the middle. The weather was surprisingly mild, did not need any down for warmth and Kimberleigh did not even wear gloves but did wear wrist guards just in case of a fall. It had been more than 20 years since she put on her skates, but basic skating came back pretty quickly. What a day! It took a bit of driving to get there and back in one day, but the payoff was one of the best experiences of her life.
