Beach Bonfire: S'more Fun in San Clemente

Roasting Marshmallows and Enjoying Friends

A Tradition Challenged

Paul Gavin Fine Art Can you believe that the long-standing and very special experience of beach bonfires is being challenged? Will beach fires be banned? At this point it is up to individual cities. How sad it has come to this. Now one will see what cities will do.

We have all done it! Sitting around a warm fire on a cold night roasting marshmallows and laughing with friends. The smell of the fire, our faces warm in the golden glow and our backs cold, and the rhythmic roaring surf: the world is a peaceful, magical and beautiful place.

Painted live during the evenings of June 29 #8212; July 2, 2005, this image captures the forever memory of the warmth and glow of friends gathered around a beach fire enjoying the evening and each other while laughing, cooking marshmallows and savoring their s'more's.
