While in France, Paul made his way to Normandy where he painted the Cathedral at Bayeux as well as D-Day's Omaha Beach and President Reagan honoring the veterans of the Allied invasion.

After two days painting Notre Dame de Paris under cloudy skies, the sun shown on the third day. And with the sun came the appropriately attired French sunbathers. I asked two of them if I could paint them, and my luck was that both of them were artists as well. As I painted the one who posed, the other sketched my picture in my travel journal.
